Basic Life Support (BLS) – HeartCode Program

Course Overview

Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives during cardiac arrest and other life-threatening emergencies. The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) offers the American Heart Association (AHA) Certified BLS (HeartCode) Program.

The certification is internationally recognized and remains valid for two years from the date of issuance.

Course Structure

The BLS HeartCode Program consists of two mandatory components:

Part 1: HeartCode BLS Online Learning Module

* Self-paced interactive e-learning program

* Must be completed before attending the classroom session

Part 2: Instructor-Led Skills Session

* Hands-on practical training conducted at the TNAI Training Centre

* Participants must bring their online course completion certificate to attend the skills session.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Perform high-quality CPR for Adults, Children, and Infants
  • Operate and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Apply effective ventilation techniques
  • Understand and implement the Chain of Survival
  • Demonstrate effective team dynamics during resuscitation
  • Manage foreign-body airway obstruction (choking emergencies)

Course Requirements

  • Registration and payment must be completed 2–3 weeks prior to the scheduled course date.
  • Course fee must be paid as per the TNAI-approved fee structure.
  • Participants are required to share the UTR/Transaction Reference Number after payment.
  • TNAI will generate an official invoice upon receipt of payment and participant details.
  • Registered participants will receive access to the HeartCode Bundle, which includes: BLS eBook, Online Learning Modules, Digital Learning Resources e-Certificate (upon successful completion)

Training Details

  1. Duration: Half Day (½ Day)
  2. Training Methodology: Interactive self-paced online learning,Video-based instruction, Hands-on practice using mannequins, Instructor-guided skills training.

Evaluation Method

  1. Online theory assessment
  2. Offline practical skills assessment
